Product VS Promotion
In the marketplace we are overwhelmed there are many opportunities to sell, buy, promote, convince prospects and current customers, be convinced for others, and have the opportunity to select the services or products we prefer or simply reject it when we don’t like or don’t satisfy our requirements.
However that makes an integrated activity which move and increase the wealth of diverse sectors, economies even countries. When these commercial activities are carried to the internet, and this revolutionized media is utilized as a business link, we have as a result an electronic business which is not virtual form like many person think; it’s a too real one.
The marketers agree they have something called “The Marketing Mix†which has some variations in the description of this term, but generally there are the known the “four Ps of the marketing mix†(Product, Promotion, Price and Place). The prestigious North American group of researchers “ The Gallup Organization†thinks there is other important “P†and that is “Peoplesâ€, because they are who make a live relation with every element of the Marketing Mix.
If you have products to sell on internet; that is a good or service or anything you can offer to a market, you should have in mind it must satisfy a want or a need. In the other hand possibly these products won’t be sold alone. Also you will have to disseminate information that not only describes the attributes of your product or service, but peoples feel they need consume this product and buy it.
Having products without promotion you will never experience a real gain of money and having a bulk of promotion without products; or worst, without products of quality you will lose rapidly your credibility and even may have legal problems. I think you need evaluate your products against your promotion strategies and also see if are as effective to be successful.
Furthermore both products and promotion form part of an integrated system (Marketing Mix) which is not wise think one or other is more important. The most important thing is know how combine them with the rest of the elements such as price, peoples and place (which is the market).
What do you think?

I agree with you, I think that selling products without promoting them is not a great idea, obviously you have places like ebay and amazon but when selling online, I have learned that the more avenues and sites you cover the better. Depending on Amazon or eBay is not the greatest business model in such a hostile market place. You need to deversify and try things out like using Craigslist, Facebook Market place, amazon, ebay, yahoo, your own site, google base and other places to not only display your products but to also promote them.

In my opinion promoting is more important than the product itself. When do you think you sell more :
a) when you have a great product and no promotion or
b) when you have an average product or even a bad product and a great promotion? I agree for the second one.
I do agree with stefan. Most of the companies are following this strategy only. eventhough your product is bad, with the help of promotion you can increase the sales of your product
Product Vs Promotion is a good argument you have mentioned in your blog. This is such a good topic which help the person who are interested for money making business opp through online.
I agree that you have to have the whole mix. You can’t expect an amazing product to do well on it’s own and not promote it. Stefan, I also agree with your second point.
Couldn’t agree more.Promotion is based on good quality fo products.
True, but in my opinion it’s easier to market a product than to create a stellar one.
A great example of this is apple. While I wouldn’t say their iPod products are bad, they have a lot of limitations. However, the way Apple marketed their iPods was amazing and resulted in many sales.
I agree, both promoting and the product are important in any business.
