Improving your blog - Part 3
This is the part 3 of my mini guide Improving your blog. Make sure you read part 2 and part 1 too. In this part we will talk about the content and the theme.
There are several ways to improve blogging. A few of them are as under. The information should be simple and of great public interest to hold back the traffic on the web. Images should be avoided. If any logo is desired it should be kept simple and small. Animations must be avoided. The theme of the template should be kept similar to the content on the web.
The data should be new and informative. It should not be pasted on several sites to gather attraction as multiple copies of the same information may be detected as spam at times. The space should be well organized and the home page should contain almost every information about the links and navigation menu in the site. The search engine if incorporated should be well programmed and organized. When links of blogs are placed on other sites then there has to be some similarity between the content of it. Consistent navigation provides ease of accessing. Conflicts of interest can be revealed and one can gain better market by being natural and true to the core. Publish on the sites which are more often visited in the appropriate categories which makes the navigation and searching it little easy and a comfortable experience. The advertisements should be related and should not be spam too.
Video, images and graphics should be kept to the minimum. An open dialogue box can too be kept to exchange views and ideas of the people. The review of the readers will help a lot in creating further blogs and becoming a successful blogger. Bilateral links can too be of great advantage and can work as a win win situation for both the bloggers.

Blogging is one of the promotion strategy to increase the page rank so one should design his/her Blog page attractive and maintain them to get more visitors.
Nice concise article on improving content. It’d be nice if you can break out each of the points and expand them into somewhat of “full size” articles.
Thanks. Will do that in a future article. The content of a blog is a very important part.
Hi Stephan,
Why should images be avoided? i have read LOTS of posts by very successful bloggers and all have said that images are a great way to attract people to your posts, and I tend to agree. When I scan through blogs… I am often drawn to posts with images that appeal to me.
Just wondering why you say they should be avoided?
Good post though!
Well one image in a post it’s not bad if it’s not that big and of course to match the post content. People love long posts without or with small images..
i’m always using image in my post.
that will attract more visitors and i’m using ‘thumbnail’ pic (and that image must be related to post content)
but, doshdosh.com always use ‘anime pic’ on their post. always on left side on post…
can you list some professional blog designers who can design themses for you
One good and cheap is ninjamuk.com but if you can afford uniqueblogdesigns.com then I recommend them
Seconded.
Well, images can become clunky and if they’re not chosen well can be an irritant.
But I see what you mean. I love high quality images from sites like Flickr and iStockPhoto.
Maki’s anime pics are a great example of branding. So is his domain name.
I’m not sure of your budget, but here are the best:
-Chris Pearson (amazing designs but it’s unlikely he’d be taking on work)
-Ben Bleikhamp (designer of ProBlogger)
-UBD (unique blog designs - designed john chow, shoemoney, uber affiliate, etc.)
-Weborithm (designed john cow)
-Design Farmer (designed Caroline Middlebrook’s site)
Hope this helps,
Hafiz Dhanani
That depends. I think the majority regular readers would prefer slightly shorter posts, but those from search engines wouldn’t mind longer.
