How to Use Stumble Upon to Get Traffic
Everybody knows that a steady traffic flow is incredibly important for a blog. Regular visitors can help build a community around your blog and, especially in the case of those who hope to profit from blogging, a steady traffic flow shows advertisers that your blog is worth their money. Of course, sometimes getting that traffic to your blog in the first place can be kind of tricky.
While there are obvious traffic building methods like link bating, traffic exchange programs, etc, there are also less obvious traffic building methods like StumbleUpon. StumbleUpon was built to help web surfers find new and interesting sites, but lately people have been manipulating the web surfing tool to explode their web traffic. Here are a couple of tips to help you do just that:
1. Make sure that, when you enter your site into stumble upon, you list it in as many relevant tags as possible, but don’t go overboard. Too many tags will alert the moderators and your site could be banned!
2. Make sure that the StumbleUpon integration code is in all of the pages of your website. This way people can stumble into older entries that are relevant to the categories that they are surfing.
3. Familiarize yourself with the StumbleUpon community—this will tell you what topics the community feels are the most interesting and you can write a few posts about those topics, which will increase the likelihood that your site gets stumbled.
4. Have your friends install the StumbleUpon toolbar and give your site a thumbs up. Those “random” thumbs ups are a great way to give your site a boost in the daily traffic. Some sites will see as many as sixty or seventy new hits from one thumbs up!

Stumbleupon now seems to be taken very seriously by bloggers and I’ll follow your tips and pass them on.
Thanks.
Sarah
You could also start a stumbleupon advertising campaign. At only 5 cents a visitor its very reasonable. The goal of this would be to receive some ‘thumbs up’ to create a natural flow of traffic.
StumbleUpon is great for getting some extra traffic. Though I haven’t had tons of success w/ my “blogging & make money” blog, my others do very well! Nice tips.
You should definitely check out StumbleUpon Sarah. It’s a great tool
Adding an SU toolbar would be worth it
A unique website can definitely help… Funny content works extremely well too!
Another strategy is to use high impact images above the fold. If the pages are boring and plain, StumbleUpon traffic tends to have a very high bounce rate.
The reason it’s taken seriously is not only it’s capacity to drive large amounts of traffic, but the time period over which the visitors come. StumbleUpon is know to send recurring traffic.
Like you mentioned Hafiz, it does send great recurring traffic with just one good post!
Most Stumble traffic has a higher than avg. bounce rate, but in my opinion, any traffic is good traffic.
I have never been able to get this to work to get large amounts of traffic, really should start to learn.
I’ve been trying to get a good amount of traffick through stumbleupon. It’s tough and these tips are really helpful. thanks
I’ve tried this social networking…Give a significant increasement traffic. But only in quantity, I’m not sure about the traffic quality…
I use several social networking sites, and Stumble Upon is one of my favorites. I like clicking the “Stumble!” button to see what random page I end up at!
Thanks for the tips, I set up a Stumbleupon account just yesterday, I really like the stumble button for finding new sites
If you wnat to get huge traffic from Stumble Upon than you must have a greate website, because having a greate website with cool and useful content will make the stumbler to add your website to his favorites and by that more people will surf your website.
