Hot Tips to Get Fast Traffic
You’ve created a blog, filled it with content and…now what? When will the visitors show up? The truth is that accidental traffic is very small. If you want traffic to your site, you need to promote the heck out of it. Here are a few tips to get you some fast traffic.
1. If you have a blog, join traffic exchange sites like BlogMad or BlogExplosion. Obviously, as these sites are traffic exchange, you will need to spend a fair amount of time surfing the blogs through the site blog surfers. This might seem annoying but you would be amazed at the amount of traffic you get if you surf through sites while you are doing something else, like, watching television.
2. Comment on other blogs. Bloggers love to get comment and they love to check out the sites of bloggers who leave comments. Make sure your comments are relevant to the post and you could earn links as well as traffic!
3. Submit your site to networking sites. These are great for traffic.
4. Become a member of MyBlogLog. MyBlogLog keeps track of your site’s visitors and lets others know when you have paid them a visit. Many people will check out the sites of their recent visitors. Like leaving comments, this could be a great way to earn links as well as traffic!
5. Get your blog listed on sites like StumbleUpon and Digg. The amount of traffic that is driven to websites through these two portals is phenomenal.
6. Make sure that you have claimed your blog at Technorati.
7. Use a Ping service to ping sites like weblogs.com and Technorati to let them know when your blog has been updated.
8. Bookmark your posts at Del.icio.us.
9. Link! Link! Link! Link to sites you think are interesting and then make sure that your links are clicked. It is also a good idea to send a quick email to each site you link to. They might then give you a reciprocal link on their site.
10. Make sure that your url is listed in all of your communications—in the signature of your email and forum posts, on your business cards, on your company’s letterhead, etc. Whenever you communicate with anyone, make sure they know how to get to your site.

Great tips! I’ve used them all except for #1 which i’m about to check out!
Tips are good.I love it.Have you collected this from somewhere or write from your own experience?Whatever it is this is great.
have you done any anlysis on the competition you run and the increase in traffic because of the competitions that you have bee running?
Is had been worthy of running such competitions ?
Excellent tips for sure. It should be noted tho, that you do not join traffic exchanges with blogs running adsense.
You seriously run the risk of losing your adsense account
why is that? i don’t know anything about that lol.. google adsense terms?
i have to take issue with the commenting and getting visits back. cause it never happens for me. i’ll comment my little heart out and get nothing in return.
Yep, directly from the TOS:
Invalid Clicks and Impressions
Clicks on Google ads must result from genuine user interest. Any method that artificially generates clicks or impressions on your Google ads is strictly prohibited. These prohibited methods include but are not limited to repeated manual clicks or impressions, using robots, automated click and impression generating tools, third-party services that generate clicks or impressions such as paid-to-click, paid-to-surf, autosurf, and click-exchange programs, or any deceptive software. Please note that clicking on your own ads for any reason is prohibited. Failure to comply with this policy may lead to your account being disabled.
It’s all good tips.
Tip number 2 is that i use more.
Thanks for the advice.
Good advice…thanks.
Yeah a lot of those traffic exchange programs aren’t good with the adsense TOS.
Google is quick to pick up on some of the traffic exchange sites. Blogmad is one of them. Although they are very good site to get traffic.
Stumbleupon is probably my favorite, i’ve gotten so much traffic from them. I’m not sure whether they go against Googles terms or not though.. i’m still using Adsense though so I guess that’s a good sign.
Some good ideas.
The trouble with some of this traffic, particularly STumbleUpon, the bounce rate is terrible. People hit the site and keep moving and that’s frustrating to me. Building an audience takes time and comments on other blogs is probably the one item that has given me the most loyal readers - people who come back time and time again.
Yeah, but with Stumbleupon if you have a great blog, some people will stick around to check out more of it, or book mark it for later. I’ve done that lots just searching around through Stumbleupon.
All very good ideas. I used quality blog posts, 2-3 per week over the last year, to help me reach #1 in Google for one of my blogs. Also, using traffic exchanges could put your Adsense CTR in the toilet which won’t help any of your other sites if you get smart-priced.
Great list of tips here. I haven’t tried using traffic exchange sites yet with my blog, but will now consider it. I may test some out for awhile and see how it helps. Right now, I use SU, Digg, commenting on other blogs, and posting in forums to increase my traffic. Thanks again for the nice list of tips
I’m glad you shared this with the community Dennis. Though I am not running Adsense on the majority of my posts, I have considered traffic exchange programs and was unaware that the TOS interferes! I’ll definitely keep this in mind if I ever do decide to use traffic exchange programs. Have you ever used a traffic exchange program? If you have, how were your results?
I definitely agree here, the bounce rate is pretty high. There are things you can do to reduce your bounce rate and attract more quality visitors though. But for the most part, SU users like to keep “stumbling” and don’t spend too much time on just one site! I use SU every once and awhile and personally don’t like spending a lot of time on 1 site, unless something very interesting is posted. Funny videos and good pictures work best for drawing in good traffic w/ a lower bounce rate!
I have not personally used traffic exchanges yet for 2 reasons:
1. I just recently stopped using adsense.
2. Time.
If/When I do tho, it will be the right way. 1 or 2 good ones, and not actually trying to sell anything outright.
Great tips!
I didin’t knew blogmad and blogexplosion, gonna check them!
Cool, thanks for sharing this Dennis. Do you have any that you’d recommend? I’m still considering using a traffic exchange to help promote my site.
Next time I wil be here, I will show you those blogmad and blogexplossion, still got no time yet. But Ill be back
No problem
The “best” is probably still Traffic Swarm, but I haven’t surveyed lately. I’ll start with them tho.
some good tips, some i haven’t seen before; but one thing i have found is that visitors from traffic exchanges have a high bounce rate; akin to stumbleupon readers mainly due to the random nature of getting to the blog/ site in question.
Then again i use stumble upon and entrecard as a means to find some good blogs and have found a fair deal, so we cant discount it completely.
But noenthe less some usful tips.
Thanks for sharing your opinion Dennis. I will look into “traffic swarm” more, maybe try it out, and evaluate the results. If you try it, I’d really like to have you share your experience
Hey Don, are you currently using traffic exchange programs? Having a high bounce rate isn’t very good, but you can always try to lure them into some sort of trap to read your content or participate. Having a contest like the one this blog is currently having is usually an incentive for people to read more and — in turn, lower the bounce rate. Entrecard and SU definitely both have high bounce rates, but can still bring in a good amount of traffic — especially w/ a funny video or collection of funny pictures.
no im not using one at the moment it is general experience from previous experiments.
Yes entrecard and SU can bring traffic but do you want traffic or loyal readers.
i rather have a loyal base then high amount of traffic.
I just signed up at Blogmad but seems like a lot of work to get some traffic to the site. Is this working for anyone?
Nice looking blog - I stumbled it so who knows you might get a surge !
Good tips

Some good ideas.

Gaining traffic is the hardest part about running a blog so all the tips above are useful.
Thanks for some wonderful tips on how to get fast traffic.very informative article.Traffic is the Key to All Websites.I think that its very important to get the traffic to survive in internet. You provided the Process that guarantees to draw much more traffic to your chosen website than the other conventional methods. Thanks!!
I’m not a fan of traffic exchanges. Of course, it depends what you want to get out of them (e.g. the quality of traffic), and how much work you are willing to put in (e.g. manual surfing).
I like using social networking sites, and have seen that tailoring one’s content towards them can yield high results.
It’s also what makes or breaks a blog’s (potential) income.
It’s amazing how many people still don’t get how to use TE’s correctly.
if you’re attempting to flat out sell, give up. Give a freebie that will help other webmasters in THEIR business and you will build a list.
I’ve tried all the traffic exchanges, and they suck. I’ve tried traffic swarm, and there is no point wasting time earning credits just to receive low quality traffic.
If you’re going to choose a traffic exchange I would recommend autohits.dk.
Overall, I’m not a fan of traffic exchanges.
Same, StumbleUpon has worked out the best for me.
Stumbled as well.
Keep up the good work.
I wouldn’t recommend traffic exchanges. They don’t deliver much traffic, and it’s low quality in any case.
They are manual traffic exchanges so you’ll have to waste a lot of time and effort in order to get traffic.
I think that if you will submit your website to big directories like Dmoz and Yahoo than you will get lots of traffic.
