Good Blog, Bad Blog - Serial 4

Welcome to a new Good Blog, Bad Blog serial. I will start like every time with the Good Blog. The good blog is Bruce Schneier’s blog. This blog is covering security and security technology niche.

About the author

Bruce Schneier is a security technologist and author. He was described by The Economist as a “security guru” and on his site wrotes that “Schneier is best known as a refreshingly candid and lucid security critic and commentator”. You can find the books written by him here : http://www.schneier.com/books.html

About the blog

The blog is simple and the design is cleaned and very nice. The author is writing from October 2004, the blog is rich in content and it looks like there is a lot of activity there. Congratulations for the owner(s) of this blog!

Now let’s talk about the Bad Blog. The Bad Blog I will show you in this serial is blog maverick.

About the author

If you can find anything about this author.. then you are good. His name is Mark Cuban but we will need to hire people from FBI to find any other details because there is no “about me” page.

About the site

Even if the site is having traffic as I can see and there is some activity on the site I think this is one of the worst blogs I ever see. As I said before there is no “about me” page. On the sidebar after the RSS Newsfeed he adds “Blogs I read” which is kind of strange. Other than that I think you can see yourself..

That’s all for now. I hope you enjoyed this serial!

  1. I agree w/ your analysis of Bruce’s blog. His design is very simple, clean, and easy to find your way around… As far as Mark Cuban’s… I think it definitely serves its purpose and isn’t “bad.” Since most people visiting Mark Cuban’s weblog know who he is… there isn’t a need for an about page: people know he owns the Dallas Mav’s…

  2. Found your site on digital point forums.

Cool post, I think Mark Cuban is a the geekiest guy running around in the whole Hollywood crowd.

  3. Yeah, I think about me page is something important so reader can know the author better…Anyway, nice serial you’ve made.

  4. heh.. well.. I didn’t.. yesterday was the first time I heard about Mark Cuban..

  5. Good to see such posts to Introduce to other bloggers. Good Job :)

  6. If he is indeed *the* Mark Cuban, then he does not need an “About Me” page. Sure it would be nice to have, but someone like Cuban doesn’t NEED one. He’s not some small potato blogger like you and me.

  7. That is Mark Cuban’s style. He is arrogant and figures everyone knows who he is. But you can’t knock him too much, he has made a lot of money and is a great business man.

The blog is all about a place for him to just rant, he does not care about being a good blogger.

    good choices though.

  8. You dont need to read much of Mark Cuban’s blog to realise who he is. As a self made internet billionaire and owner of the dallas mavericks he gets about.

  9. Never heard of the guy, have now though. Time to check out his blog me thinks…

  10. Wow really? You need to keep up with news :)

  13. Hey there. This is a nice blog and I like it. Keep up the good job!

  14. I find your blog very informative and interesting. Not bad huh.. ha

  15. It is Mark Cuban. I`m not a fan of the blog though.

  16. This has got to be the classic good/bad serial LOL (Sorry, that was riddled with sarcasm)

    Points made…

An about me page hat he does not need.

A strange blogroll? That’s a bad point? Forgetting for the moment that he’s linking out from a PR6 blog…..would it still be strange if you were on it?

    “Some” activity. LMAO

Sorry, but this one is a bust for sure.

  17. heh.. I’ve just read about this guy.. I can’t belive that blog is his.. he cannot afford to pay a designer? :)

  18. It is most likely Mark Cuban… Like you mentioned, Cuban doesn’t really need one.

  19. I don’t think Mark even cares about getting a designer…

  20. Though Stefan didn’t know who Mark Cuban was before this serial, I have to agree w/ your comments Dennis.
