Good Blog, Bad Blog - Serial 2

Welcome to Good Blog, Bad Blog series. This is the second serial and on this one I promised to choose a blog from commentators. The good blog is Andrew’s blog. To find out more informations about Andrew check his blog : http://www.andrewpavelski.com

The design is very nice. There are some layout problems with the sidebar, but the colors and the general look is very nice. The content also is very good.

You will laugh but finding a bad blog it is a hard job so after some minutes of searching I finally found it. The bad blog is : http://www.adiumx.com/blog.

If you visit that blog once.. I don’t think you will do it again. Adium is a free instant messaging application for Mac OS X that can connect to AIM, MSN.. and other messengers. I didn’t test their application but their blog is very bad.

They don’t have a sidebar, they don’t have categories. All they have on their “blog” is the posts - the content and on the footer are monthly archives.

What do you think about these two blogs?

    Hey Stefan, I appreciate you featuring my blog as a “good blog.” I think my sidebar is a little overcrowded, but I’m hoping to change that with a new WordPress theme that I bought. The adium blog seems to get visitors and commenters, but it’s really TOO plain. They could really attract a lot more visitors with a better design!

    It’s not a “business blog” of any kind, it’s updates and bug fixes for their service.

    Do they need ads? A blogroll? Categories? For what??

    Sorry, I don’t use their services, but I think this was a horribly misjudged review.

    Someone tell me what I’m missing…..

    Hey Cynthia, I am not writing for SEO. If my post topic does in fact help me move up in search engines for specific keywords - I won’t be complaining. I write for my readers with my current blogging knowledge and share my opinions.

    The purpose of that specific article was about “getting into a daily blogging routine.” It really does make sense for me to use those keywords.

    Hey Dennis, I did scroll the Adium blog. I think it definitely is serving it’s purpose, but could be greatly improved. I think if it were improved, more people would be willing to participate and share their comments.

    I agree with those thinking a “bad” rap might not be an exceptionally bad thing. A lot of readers (myself included lol) will click the bad one first just to see what the fuss is about.

    Afterwards each reader will make up their own mind anyway. After all, a review of any kind, is just “one persons opinion”.

    A decent negative is tips on techniques. “This blog sucks because…” is not :-)

    I`m not a fan of the theme though.

    In terms of premium themes i much prefer Brian`s revolution theme.
