The idea is not bad but I don’t like the blog. I don’t like the design. I don’t like how it’s structured. Also he is not getting too many visitors but he has a lot of advertising on his blog. The content is good in my opinion.

Welcome to a new Good Blog, Bad Blog serial. I will start like every time with the Good Blog. The good blog is Bruce Schneier’s blog. This blog is covering security and security technology niche.

Bruce Schneier is a security technologist and author. He was described by The Economist as a “security guru” and on his site wrotes that “Schneier is best known as a refreshingly candid and lucid security critic and commentator”. The blog is simple and the design is cleaned and very nice. The author is writing from October 2004, the blog is rich in content and it looks like there is a lot of activity there. Congratulations for the owner(s) of this blog!

If you can find anything about this author.. then you are good. His name is Mark Cuban but we will need to hire people from FBI to find any other details because there is no “about me” page.

Even if the site is having traffic as I can see and there is some activity on the site I think this is one of the worst blogs I ever see. As I said before there is no “about me” page. On the sidebar after the RSS Newsfeed he adds “Blogs I read” which is kind of strange. Other than that I think you can see yourself..

Hi and welcome to Good Blog, Bad Blog Serial 3. I really start enjoying these serials and I enjoy searching for good blogs and for bad blogs also. So… the good blog is TV of the Absurd

The owner

Cynthia Boris is the owner of this site and it is on my Top commentators list but this is not the reason I selected her blog for the good blog. On her about page she wrote : “Cynthia Boris has been a TV fangirl since she was a young teen but now she’s a freelance entertainment reporter, which means she can chase down TV stars for a living instead of just for fun”.

The site

The site is well structured and cleaned. Cynthia is using a free theme but what I appreciate is that it’s cutomized. It has a new header and other colors. What I would change is the text on the header.. maybe other font or the way the text is aligned. The logo it is nice.

Now the bad blog.. The G-Manologue – Greg’s blog..

The owner

The “happy” owner of this blog is a man called Greg and his nickname is G-Man. He’s writing humor and comedy and you can find more on his about page.

The site

This blog is the bad blog because as you can see the design is bad.. the content it’s not updated often, the last post was published on 27th of February. I’m very curious if you like his posts so I am asking you to read one or two. My opinion is that his writing it’s not that bad. Anyway the first thing I would change is the theme or the design. Then the site will require more content and more posts.

Welcome to Good Blog, Bad Blog series. This is the second serial and on this one I promised to choose a blog from commentators. The good blog is Andrew’s blog. To find out more informations about Andrew check his blog : http://www.andrewpavelski.com

The design is very nice. There are some layout problems with the sidebar, but the colors and the general look is very nice. The content also is very good.

You will laugh but finding a bad blog it is a hard job so after some minutes of searching I finally found it. The bad blog is : http://www.adiumx.com/blog.

If you visit that blog once.. I don’t think you will do it again. Adium is a free instant messaging application for Mac OS X that can connect to AIM, MSN.. and other messengers. I didn’t test their application but their blog is very bad.

They don’t have a sidebar, they don’t have categories. All they have on their “blog” is the posts – the content and on the footer are monthly archives.

Because I want to bring you regular content, one of the features I have been considering adding to this site is Good blog, Bad blog. We will surf the Internet and find two blogs. One that will be good and one that will be bad.

For the first “Good blog,” I decided to highlight Sentences.org. Sentences is a blog that not very many people know about, but it is full of information about everything having to do with work. There are articles and posts about writing, interviews, client choices, etc. While Sentences feels more like a webzine about the working world, it is actually a blog and one that has been put together very well! Each of the site’s categories is neatly labeled and easy to access and the graphics that accompany the articles make you feel more like you are reading a professionally put together magazine. The design it’s cleaned and nice also.

For the first “Bad blog” I decided to choose Clicksbucks.com because, well, I’m not sure if it is a blog. It comes up under a search for blogs, but when I look at it—well, where is the content? There seems to be a paragraph about affiliate programs, but it is smashed into a small section of the front page of the site. The rest of the page is given over to advertising and a list of links, some of which are most likely referral links to other affiliate programs. This person obviously wants to make money—but how he does it is beyond me. Also the design it’s not nice everything looks messed up.

If you are a blogger, you will know that blogging is subjective—what one person loves, another will not. This post looks at two extremes in terms of “good” and “bad.” Future posts will talk about blogs that fall somewhere between the two extremes.
