Why Blog? How Blogging Can Improve Your Business

February 19, 2008

While the vast majority of blogs on the internet are personal blogs or entertainment blogs, there is also a growing number of business blogs. Blogs are good for your business!

Why blog? Blogging is a great way to keep people up to date on the goings on of your company. Because of the way blogging is set up, the newest entries are always at the top of the page, so you can be sure that your customers will always have the most recent information about the goings on in your company.

Blogging is also a great way to open up the floor for customer feedback. Customers can leave comments on your blog posts and you will be tapped right in to how to keep your customers happy. Customers love businesses which open the conversation and include them in the decision making processes.

Blogging can bring in extra income. Many blogs set up advertising accounts and sell space in the headers, footers and sidebars to sell advertising. This means an extra source of income for your business!

When your business sets up a blog, it shows that world that it is up to date with current technological advances and that it can function comfortably in a web 2.0 world. Customers feel more comfortable doing business with companies that speak the same language that they do.

The common blogging misconception is that it is a personal venue. This is absolutely not true. The great thing about blogging is that you can make it into whatever you need to be. Your business’s blog could simply be a site that lets the internet know that your company exists, or it can be a fully integrated customer retention portal.

I agree with you. If you have a good following, you can make some decent cash with your blog but first you need to get some traffic to it!

I think blogging can be great to put a business on the map. You can also offer free useful products which will make your readers trust you and become potential clients.

There’s lots of potential in leveraging the power of a blog.
