How to Get the Most Out From RSS?
Something very important to monetizing your blog and increasing the benefits from traffic is to try to know all that you can about Really Simple Syndication (RSS, which is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog posts, headlines from news portals and even podcasts.)
In your business blog the users can read your content using a RSS reader, which is the software utilized for that. These programs are also called “feed reader†or “aggregatorâ€. Then the users subscribe to a feed entering the feed’s link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in the browser.
However there are many topics and kinds of information that can be delivered in RSS feeds such as blog feeds, article feeds, forum feeds, schedule feeds, discount and special feeds, news feeds and many others. According to a survey to marketers the last year demonstrated that 33% started to use RSS feeds because customers were demanding it from them.
The most successful bloggers agree with the idea that if you are not using RSS you will not attract attention from readers because content is syndicated and shared all over the web. Also RSS syndicates your content and makes it available in other sites and blogs. Moreover you can reach a wider audience, reach people in a shorter time, and it is a secure channel that can’t be spammed and it allows subscribers to control the flow of information they receive.
Aside of this RSS feeds are compiled and configured according to the choice of the users. They do not involve you in piracy issues and the whole process is completely anonymous. When the content you have in your blog is syndicated it builds up links and the increases the possibility of improving your ranking in search engines.
More visibility is one of the principal benefits of having RSS feeds, bringing you qualified visitors. These visitors will trust more in you and in your business. Also users can quickly scan headlines and you should use that to promote your business in a very short way; some people don’t like to read much, but if you summarize the information they will feel fine with that.
The benefits with RSS are dual. The users will feel satisfied with receiving fresh information, the marketers and business bloggers will dramatically improve the search engine optimization from web pages and also improve the search rank. Traffic will also increase with new content in less than 48 hours and you will always have new sources of traffic if your web pages are always updated. It will increase the number of subscribers and will lead to more income from advertising revenue.

Yes, RSS does help in bringing loyal readers
RSS is a life saver. I don’t have time to go blog by blog to get updates and RSS is great. I use google reader.
The one drawback of RSS feeds is that sometimes it’s easy to get distracted and ‘waste’ time.
I think feedburner has some good stuff to help you track your feeds and also value add to your feeds
Or write high quality content consistently and ask for subscription at the bottom of posts.
My favourite way is to offer some sort of incentive, like a free ebook.
But are they visiting the blog anymore?
Feedburner is more for stats for your feeds, but to ‘track’ feeds you use something called a feed reader. For example, I use google reader.
You should check out Copyblogger. It has some great tips and specific advice to increase feed subscribers.
